Simple Extraction, Implant Placement with Possible Bone Grafting (Fig 8a, 8b) If the tooth can be extracted easily without raising a flap, placement of a dental implant and limited bone grafting will maintain much more bone than if no implant were placed. As well, should the owner wish the implant to be restored at a later time for esthetic or functional reasons, the animal will not require an additional anaesthetic or surgery for implant placement.  There is a high likelihood that grafting will be required if any space exists around the implant.
